Short Sighted Cinema was founded in 2011 by Kate Williamson and Gem Carmella, over a shared love for short form film.
Now a recognised home for British short film, Short Sighted Cinema curate diverse programmes for audiences across the UK. This ranges from film festivals, to community cinemas, live events and cross-arts collaborations.
We regularly work with other organisations and festivals to bring short film to fresh eyes; curating live events for London Short Film Festival, local-themed nights for London Fields Film Festival and HERE Suburban Film Festival (including commissioning new films each year), and curating programmes for music and arts festivals including In The Woods, Field View and Lost Picture Show. We’ve created programmes for the British Council, ran workshops at Enfield Thinks, contributed to panel discussions at the BFI.
On 21st June 2015 we launched ‘The Shortest Nights’, our first UK short film tour – featuring over 50 filmmakers in 7 diverse programmes. The festival takes place each year around the shortest night of the year.
In 2016 we became a registered Community Interest Company, with a commitment to reinvest our profits back into short film and local community.
